It's only a 5% grade (or was it 6% on that side?) For that distance that is not a horrible grade. I've done 10+ miles of constant 6% grade many times.
6% grade roads are very common. In fact, 6% was the cap on grade on roads back in the late 1800s b/c of horses and mules. They're built steeper these days without that restriction.
