I prefer sahimi!
One of the reasons I want to work in Japan is not only the food but also the alcohol. I'm distraught about the quality here compared to what I've seen and heard elsewhere. I hope one day Finland can also taste authentic food not only from Japan but other countries as well.
Hey Daiki! Would you like to do a video for those who are intrested on visiting Japan? A brief guide if you may 😊🙏🏽
In general, food in Finland is not the best and is very expensive. ( Im not talking about the national dishes, they are very delicious!) I love Japanese food and is not just sushi. Of course sushi is the best known Worldwide but there are other things like ramen, bento box, udon, natto, tonkatsu, nabe, etc etc that are mouthwatering! I agree with when you said they try to adapt to the locals taste but at same time is sad because it’s not authentic.
My brother got me sushi from Hanko Sushi a few years ago and I thought it was really good. Maybe I'll go there again sometime soon.
Would be interested in a similar video about your thoughts on ramen in Finland. There's a decent (in my opinion) ramen restaurant here called Momotoko, I've eaten there twice.
I wish i could eat sushi but i can't since i'm allergic to all seafood 😔
I lived in Japan for a number of years, and I immediately began the cultural experience of eating sushi. It is one of my favorite foods. The small city where I now live in the U.S. has a very good Japanese restaurant.
I'm Italian and I love "italian" sushi, but next month I will go to Japan, so I will try the real sushi. I can't wait, but i fear that I would never be able to enjoy the "italian's" one.
Oh this is so meaningful opinion, thank you for sharing. I will definitely try the Japanese authentic sushi if I will travel 🙏
The most amazing sushi I've tried personally was Latitude 25 – Omakase, would highly recommend for an authentic experience
If you go to Brazil, we have the best sushi.
Exactly, "western sushi" and "japanese sushi". They're different things and shouldn't be compared. Same goes with many other foods that are imported and exported culturally.
Do you like wasabi with your sushi? I love it 😀
Amazing video 🙂 In Finland at least luckiefuns has a variety of vegetarian sushi, I really like it since I don't eat meat often. In your opinion, is it possible to find vegetarian sushi in Japan? 🙂
I would recommend visiting Järvenpää. It's 30 minutes via train from Helsinki, and the Citymarket there has a somewhat famous and good quality sushi takeaway. Yes, within the store itself. On an added note, they also sell many Japanese foodstuffs and other imported goods; I think the owner likes Japanese culture!
The best sushi restaurant in Helsinki is Sushi Wagocoro. There is only 6 seats so you might want to make a reservation before visiting. The place is run by a japanese couple and is open only mon-fri till 6pm.
Just like pizza. The Italians dont put anything else than tomato sauce and cheese. But in most places outside of Italy they have their own version of pizza.
Thank you for a great video again! Pls, do NOT buy or use Norwegian Salmon!!! You have no idea how they a "farmed"/"raised". Absolut disaster and extremely cruel methods are used. The death rate and all the possible deceases and parasites are horrifying!
Is sushi a type of food people make at home in Japan? What would be the basic type? I really enjoy the sushi Ive had here in Finland, must say I usually make it myself, but I have no idea is it the real kind. For example real wasabi is almost impossible to find. I have never tasted the real one.
Could you do a video how real sushi is made, like your mother makes it. Can you even get the original ingredients in Finland?
I wish I could visit your country and have a taste of good sushi.
Deep fried sushi sounds american, they deepfry everything, maybe it tastes good, I dont know, but thats not the point. I need to know the source, where it came from.
I think one reason sushi is popular here is because raw fish has been part of some finnish traditional foods such as salmon so raw fish based food was not too hard to adapt as a new concept.
Scandinavia has a tendency to adopt other peoples' foods and make cheaper versions. Here in Denmark we've been annoying the French by stealing their pastries for hundreds of years, and making everyone think we came up with it! Genius!
Food is generally best when it's localized, I agree. Not just for the tastes of the people eating it, but also because you can use fresh local ingredients, which is always nice.
I remember the first time i tried sushi. I knew before i did not like fish… But somehow my sister thought i will like salmon.. She was so wrong.. I was throwing up😂
I have never had sushi and I have no idea what those are like beyond what I can see. I am also allergic to many types of vegetation so I'm careful of what I eat and as I do not know about the quality either, I have not given any sushi a try. I would like to know that what I would be about to eat would be good quality and something I could eat without ruining my day potentially with allergic reaction.
I'm eating a lot of stuff with asian spices thanks to great Thai shop nearby. I like trying out new tastes and making food myself and that's been another obstacle. I do not eat out often.
This was a really great topic! As someone noted earlier, many dishes might have to ”adapt” if certain ingredients are hard to come by. It’s the same thing everywhere in the world and with all cultural dishes.
I tasted my first sushi in Japan when visiting my sister, who lived in Tokio at the time. I thought it was good, but was certain that it was my first and last time eating sushi. Few years later I went to have sushi again and few weeks later, I got a sudden craving for it. Sometimes my stomach is DEMANDING that I have to feed it sushi. I think I’ve developed an addiction. Is it the rice? The wasabi?
今日はRistikoに寿司を食べに行きました
Have you got some recommendations of Finnish sushi places where sushi is closest to authentic Japanese sushi? 🍣
I really like your videos! 🥰 I wonder how well you have found the Finnish "core" in a few years. Now I understand better why we have always highly appreciated Japanese people and felt so much common with them. 😊
Onko ehdotuksia sushi-ravintolasta Jyväskylän lähellä/Jyväskylässä?
My favourites have always been umeshu in Hesperia puisto, kabuki and for the lounas buffets Luckiefuns but the ones you mention are also ok. I think that most of the sushi buffets are by Chinese.
There's a small Japanese restaurant in Tampere called Fujimi, apparently the owner has roots in Tampere and crew up in Tokyo and they say they are serving an authentic Tokyo food experience. It's one of my favorite places here. Sushi there is leaps and bounds better than any of the buffet places I've been to.
Very interesting and informative video 💖💖
Do you recommend any Helsinki restaurants (not buffet) that have sushi more similar to what you can find in Japan?
Cool video but you forgot to list your favorite finnish sushi and favorite japanese sushi and what are the differences or similarities of those. Could be a good subject for a 2nd video!
大樹が寿司を作るのを見たい。

Finding something else than Norwegian salmon or canned tuna on a sushi menu in Finland is a discovery in itself.
Japanese cuisine ramen noodles steam Foods are best
I've learned to like sushi, cause my teens often choose sushi if we go out to eat. The fish really needs to be fresh and in a buffet it should "move" quickly. I also like sushi with avocado or with eggs.
日本に旅行した時は寿司を食べませんでしたが次回は本物の寿司を食べたいと思います。
Many of the sushi restaurants seem to be owned by the Chinese etc. They have little to do with Japan anymore. Hoping to see more Japanese chefs come here.
I wonder if they have sea urchin sushi. 🧐
Thank you Daiki for telling us the history of sushi.
If I visit Helsinki, I'd get sushi with you.
Sushi with fruits are likely for vegans and vegetarians
loistava video taas
Sushi is very different in Europe, I would call it fusion food – you don't have all ingredients available, so you innovate. Sushi buffet is cheap in Finland. When I buy tram ticket for 3 euros I cry loudly, but when I go to sushi buffet for 13 euros, I dry my tears with smile.
Wow interesting video! My favorite type of sushi is the dragon roll! 😋🍣👍
