Nice video! Tks. Nice, simple, and helptful.
GOOD TIP: Go to Piazza de Roma and buy a local’s Vaporetto card ($100) then load it with as many Vaporetto trips as you want. Benefit? I was in Venice for two weeks and wanted to take a Vaporetto WHENEVER I wanted to. With this you are not locked into a certain number of days. Each Vaporetto trip is VERY cheap compared to $7.50 each trip for tourists. Also, good for five years. (I am going back for Carnivale.) TIP: Venice is NOT FUN when it is hot. May 15th it started getting hot! Where to stay? I stayed in Cannaregio… furthest point …apt. near grocery store and absolutely loved it! Quiet. Beautiful. Great restaurants.
1:19 There is some confusion here, the Vaporetto are run by a different company, ACTV. The company shown here is Alilaguna. Different companies, different routs, different prices.
True am frustrated until this moment hearing u also say it can b frustrated. Thank you!!!
Nice tips for a low budget trip! Although, the city being a maze is true for any European older city and the bridges aren't a disaster but experience. It's like calling the crowds a disaster when visiting NYC
Thanks very much for this very helpful video. Myself and my wife will be visiting for a few days at the beginning of july . We will stay in the hotel you suggested. I have one question. We will not arrive into Marco Polo until 22.40 so will the ticket kiosk be open to buy tickets for our hotel transfer.
Thanks again.
Patrick

My hotel near the Rialto said I needed to take a vaperetto if I wanted to be let off on their side of the Rialto bridge ( not the boat you pictured) . I'm just trying to find a good way as we will have a large bag plus a carry on also. Thanks !
What do you have against cruise people??????? I am one of them 🙂 cheers and thanks for the info.
Hi, thanks for watching our video. We have much more info on our website. You can use these links: for Rome (http://mikestravelguide.com/destinations/things-to-do-in-rome/), Venice (http://mikestravelguide.com/destinations/venice/), and Pisa (http://mikestravelguide.com/pisa-part-1/). Have fun in Italy.
Your video is short, but I learned so much! I’m heading to Italy next month and I’m totally clueless!
when you're getting a water taxi from madonna dell orto to the airport, do the water taxis that collect you there stop at any other stops before going to the airport first?
Hi Mike, love the video and thank you so very much for recommending Allegio Barbaria since I have been searching for an affordable hotel that is easy to get to and which doesn't require me to lug my big luggage across a few bridges since my knees are not in the best shape . I will be arriving from the airport but leaving Venice by train at Santa Lucia station. Thanks for the direction for getting to the hotel, but is there vaporetto that can take me to the train station? Also is there elevator on the building and if not, how many floors or steps to climb? Your response will be greatly appreciated!
Which vaporetto island did you need to get off to go to Allegio barbaria? please share. thanks!
At the risk of repeating what so many others have already stated, Thank you for the most helpful and informative video. I do have one question regarding the price of the Vaporetto (water taxi) . Could you please provide us some idea of the cost for the boat. I have heard it mentioned elsewhere that this is very expensive like around $50 USD. Please enlighten us and thanks again.
Venice is amazing! i was there one month ago with my family.. @
Have you done a video covering the beach areas of Jesolo? Would remind many Americans of east coast resorts like Virginia Beach.
I stay regularly on both sides of the lagoon, but my favorite hotels are on the Mestre side of the bridge. Train and/or bus service is pretty much 24-7. Nothing beats exploring Venice in the wee hours when all the tourist bus groups have departed and the cruise line passengers have scrambled back to the boat.
Your video is extremely informative compared to all the junk videos being created by millennials and view seekers!
how much does the the boat ticket cost?
Wow … great tips, thank you.
Nice information video ,😀😁
You did not explain why the area around Venice central station is not good area to stay.
Areas around central railway stations are problematic in many italian cities, but the area around Venezia Santa Lucia is actually fine.
Don't look at Alilaguna schedules but look for ACTV waterbuses instead. Where Alilaguna only services a few fixed lines ACTV (which the Venetians themselves use) services the whole of Venice, plus ACTV is a lot cheaper. Only use Alilaguna when you want to catch a waterbus from Marco Polo airport to Venice.
Top top tips!! Thanks
why don't recommend to stay near the train station? is there dangerous?
thanks for the tips.. So excited on my first trip
Very helpful i found the buses in venice very affordable didnt stay very long few days but cant wait to go back
wow… very helpful and not generic "ten tips" style video which sometimes feel like they have found out all their tips from other people and not from truly being there. Vaporetto tips especially helpful. thanks guys.
Thank you very helpful
I want to stay in a hotel overlooking the grand Canal by the Rialto bridge. is the Al Pointe Antico as nice as it looks online?
Sir, what if we drive by train ? Please inform
Thank you for some useful tips 🙂
In 1 week, I'll be there ♥
Thanks alot for this video and resources… I have a question: Why do you recommend not staying near the train station? You mentioned that it's not a nice place to stay… why is that?
Hi Mike, great video! Do you think it is safe for a night walk, going for example from the hotel that you recomend to St Mark's Square and back? around i dont know,,… 8 / 9 / 10pm? thanks!
