Let the bad guys out, and punish the good guys to the full extent of the law when they push back on the bad guys to make them an example is how Tyrants work. I am spitting mad. This used to happen on a smaller scale in grade school. The same bully would beat kids. He would be back a few days later and do it again with another victim. Till one day that bully messed with the wrong kid and got a thick beating. The kid who fought back was punished. Tyrannical Governments like to have a monopoly on force. Forefathers knew this and did their best to protect the right to protect themselves (even against tyrannical government forces).
Shame on the DA for taking this to the grand jury. The citizen protector needs to be rewarded with honor and congratulations for saving lives and stopping crime when the law cannot arrive fast enough (which in violent crimes is the vast majority of the time). I don't care how dead a bad guy is, and neither do the police (government enforcers). Ever heard of "41 shots" by Bruce Springsteen. Based on a true event. Police always mag-dump into their targets. They are trained to overkill. Ever wonder why? Safety for themselves. We deserve the same right to defend ourselves when confronted with deadly threats. That guy could have turned around and sprayed the restaurant. Never leave it up to the bad guy to decide. The Texan knew this and soldiers/police/self-defense instructors/etc. know it as well. You don't wait and see when moments can mean life or death. I applaud the Protector-Texan.
Nor do I blame the guy for the last shot. The dead criminal caused a high-stress situation. The dead criminal's family, nor Reverend Jackson or the other special interest anti-gun groups/people get to "Monday morning quarterback" this innocent protector, who was just eating his tacos with a friend when this occurred. The criminal justice system let the criminal out early, he did what he always did (break the law violently), and met a good old Texas who didn't back down, even in the face of (what any reasonable person would think) was a real gun. That Texan who did the shooting of the criminal is a hero. Tyrannical governments always come after the brave who dare to defend themselves and their neighbors to the maximum extent. They still work for us. They need reminding. I hope locals in that county protest to show that.

I love Taxes such a free state, unlike New York where I'm at now, you can't protect yourself, because of the dumb liberal policies up here. People get robbed ,or assaulted, stabbed , or pushed on to the tracks, or into a train coming in the station quite often up here, and you can't even protect yourself. The gun laws are insane up here. 1: When he fired the gun there was a man sitting in the corner! Anyone else notice that? he could of shot the guy in the corner by accident.
2: After the man hit the floor why did the shooter go up to the man ( if he is still presumed dangerous ) and then fire a head shot ? Police do NOT attempt to go closer to any suspect that may be armed unless they are sure the guy is down and posses no threat. SO THIS IS AN EXECUTION ! and if a cop did this he too may be facing a huge investigation if not criminal charges!
3: Just like car accident you are not suppose to flee the scene of crime when you are involved in some way and especially if you shot someone!
Only thing here that can be probably justified by law is the shots before the suspect hit the ground on grounds of self defense ! everything the shooter did afterwards can and probably will be held in question! but we will have to see what law enforcement has to say!

The hero here is a smart man to have not come forward yet. It's simply easier for him to know he did the right thing and deal with it privately or through confidential therapy if he chooses. He shot him in the back. 9 times, from what was reported. Shot the robber after he was down from the video. That's cowardice. Once they are down, you don't have to shoot them again. If you don't know that, you shouldn't have a gun. You don't have to do a kill shot for a robbery.
