Wow, amazing place with so much food and huge clothing department stores across. I haven't visited UD Town and the train station. I didn't venture far into town during my one day visit back in 2009 and it was raining heavily that evening too. Flew in from BKK in the afternoon, went to Wat Pa Baan Taad, came back to town and checked in at one old but huge hotel by the main road (can't even remember the name now), waled around to nearby food stalls for dinner after the rain stopped, bought some clothing at a small department store as a gift for a friend in Sadao, went back to hotel, rained again and flew out the next morning.
Must be 2018, 2019, not 2020 because now have new UD Town Food center welcome to Ud town.
Wow next time i am up there i am going there looks like some good food in there. Thanks..

Great commentary mate. you picked a good time to experience U D town, I don’t think I’ve ever walked around there with less people it’s usually so jampacked it’s not funny but agree with you that there is wonderful food and a huge variety of shopping I have bought many clothes and other items at UD town
Ok, this is old footage, the pizza people have been gone for awhile now. Pizza there was not bad, better than most offerings in Thai.
That McDonalds near the KFC is just a kiosk store. The main McDonalds is at the far end of UD Town… but you probably saw that.

Thanks for sharing! And I really appreciate the market videos since I also have food on my brain. I agreed that the biggest problem in Udon Thani when it comes to food, is what to eat and where to eat it. because the city is jam packed of food venues. And then you have all the weekend markets in addition. I an pretty sure you can eat out in Udon Thani in a new restaurant, food stall or vendor every day for 10 years, and never have to go back to the ones you have been visiting before and still find a new place to eat. I will live in the Nong Khai Province with the same distance and 1,5 hour drive to drive to both Nong Khai city and Udon Thani. But even if shopping option is okay in Nong Khai, I prefer Udon Thani for shopping and eating out due to the enormous amount of choice when it comes to food.
The hardest part is deciding what to eat. You pick something and eat then realize the food next door looks even better. 😖 Stay safe. Best wishes Bob.
Just had pork ribs. I am safe to look now lol. Thats a cool place plenty to eat. Would have to be sea food for me dont get that often here.. We have a KFC here now but its 30 miles away.. I have to say I do like fried chicken but you can get good fried chicken in the street there eh.

I'm of the same mind as you Paul, how KFC and McDonalds can do business in the Land of Smiles, with so much good Thai food to buy and eat, nope, if I want fried chicken, I'll buy from one of the vendors in the Thai Markets or from a street stall! Beautiful seafood and the crabs still alive, ya can't get any fresher than that Paul! 🙂
