How do you rate the food at the hotel? Honestly
DoubleTree by Hilton is a terrible place to stay. The room rate is overcharged. You can find a lot better hotels (e.g., Holiday inn Resort Phuket, Four Points Phuket, Mercure Hotel Phuket) in Patong Beach area. Almost all rooms have so much bad sewer smell. You can not even sleep due to this disgusting smell. So many mosquitoes. Room is very small. Some bad employees such as Nitin (Commercial Director) can kill the business. He can insult and humiliate customers and will make you feel very bad.

well Gabi, I am staying at this hotel now. Paid $10000 for a 7-day Sandbox, so very good value BUT the word Hilton should not be in the name. That gives the impression of 5-star luxury and this is NOT 5-star! It's a great location by the beach and the staff are lovely but the breakfast is little better than you will find at any 3 or 4-star hotel in Thailand and the rooms are very ordinary – no desk, wardrobe or even drawers. I also read of some other Sandbox travellers getting free upgrades as a thank you for the business – I got no favours here. They fleeced me 900 baht (yes, 900 baht!) for a taxi from the airport and extra charges to upgrade my room to something decent and extra for breakfast.
We've stayed here twice, it's a lovely hotel in a great location. They let themselves down, when they hold you at checkout, to see you haven't had a can of Coke from the minibar you haven't disclosed.
