Spent some time in Koh Lanta during January 2023 and loved it! If you want a laid-back, beautiful island without all the tourists, this is your island. Most of the closed down shops are now open. I didn't get any sense of a struggling economy whatsoever. In fact, this was my favorite place I visited while exploring Thailand!

Hi Gabi, I'm traveling to SE Asia in a few weeks for the first time. I see that a lot of people, like you, seem to rent those scooters/motorbikes to get around the island. Does it take any skill to ride them (e.g., changing gears) or do you basically just twist your wrist to make the bike go and therefore anyone can do it?
Also, I'm interested in both Koh Lanta and Koh Samui. Anything thoughts on the differences between them based on your experience?

We spent 4 days in Koh Lanta in September and we have to admit it was a lot quieter than other parts of Thailand we visited. We still enjoyed it and had a good time relaxing there. Thank you for this!

The restrictions are slowly being lifted and I hope it won’t be long before tourists are back, I was last in Thailand Feb ‘20, just as Covid was spreading, I will be back in Nov/Dec ‘22 and will spend some time in Koh Lanta, I am hopeful that it will be a little busier by then 🤞

I visited koh lanta in 2006 so that was a while ago, stayed at the Pimalay resort. I have plans to visit again in January 2023 and stay in the klong dao area. I hope there will be more tourists soon and that it will be easier for people to visit Thailand. Greetings from Sweden.

Been many times to Koh Lanta since 2006, last time was 2016 and what a change in 10yrs, more mosques now and building into the hills , not always a good thing though, thanks for the video 👍
I didn't think Koh lanta was anything special. I really regretted not visiting koh samui like everyone else does.

Hi Gabi, thanks again for the lovely video. I was in Koh Lanta in January for around 4 days. I enjoyed my stay relaxing on the beach and riding around on a bike to see the national park. Nice time to visit actually and i could also see places opening up. There are more people at night around Saladin Pier, but not as bustling as the walking street was. I will return at the end of the year again. Let's hope all this paperwork to come back to Thailand disappears. In fact, Koh Lanta appeals to me a lot.
Your 100% correct Gabi, Its so sad to see it this way, if they don't fully open without the headache and restrictions then i feel it will not get any better, i hate to say it but this will be our last trip cause of it all and it hurts to know that will be the case.
Too right Gabi. It's time. The pandemic is officially declared endemic in the UK from Thursday. Done. 1 month shy of 2 years. Time for the world to start spinning again. I'd give anything to be on one of them secluded beaches right now.

Unfortunately we won't be coming back to Thailand until all the restrictions are dropped …. Holidays are supposed to be relaxed and stress free…. Not worrying about test results.

Excellent comments on easing restrictions for tourist arrivals into Thailand…the idea of simplifying the requirements may be gaining some traction with authorities. Hoping the month of March brings an expedited one RT-PCR test requirement to enter Thailand!

We were in Koh Lanta in August 2018. Before Covid, but even then it was too quiet and boring for us. Wr were supposed to stay a full month, ( had rented a brand new villa) but left after one week. We had seen it all. Not that much to see actually..
Cosa dire di koh Lanta? Quello che mi ha sempre colpito è Ao Yai la spiaggia lunga dritta e immensa e senz'altro la natura immacolata all'interno data dal fatto che è sotto protezione.
I was there in February 2020 and just two weeks ago! It’s totally different and it makes us really sad, to see how bad it is now. But the island will come back stronger!
