Me: “That shepherd’s pie looks good…”
Gordon: “That cottage pie is disgusting.”
Me: “That cottage pie looked good…”
These chefs and owners always think their food is so great. Obviously if the food was that good you wouldn’t have a problem.
I'll admit I didn't know the difference between Shepherd's Pie and Cottage Pie either.
Americans, I'll say no more!!
I gotta be honest I always thought shepherds pie was made with beef. That’s how my mom made it and I always assumed that was the correct name for it. I didn’t know that it was actually called a cottage pie if it was made with beef. Makes sense now but growing up I had no idea there was a difference
Lool I didn’t know the difference but it’s nothing I eat
I’m eating lunch while watching this lol
to be fair most people in the US dont know the difference, myself included until a few months ago lol
Me: What? How the fuck do they not know that?
Also me: Searching up what a cottage pie is.
I wish they would fuck off with the stress music. I don't need to be told how to think and feel about a moment.
A true shepherds pie aka cottage pie is just mashed potatoes and minced meat, the meat didnt matter as basically it was just a leftovers pie, surprised Gordon didnt mention that
This all comes down to managers not managing
“Gordon when he had the French onion soup” 😛wahh
That's not fair because Americans traditionally make shepherd's pie with beef. We don't eat lamb much here. You're gonna have confused people if you call it cottage pie.
I ho to restaurants to ear food that I don't ordinarily cook. I would never, ever order shepherds pie or cottage pie. Schnitzel or crumbed anything. I buy steak. I can cook steak but I love to compare them. If it's delicious I ask how it's done. My wife is coeliac so restaurants aren't a thing really. 22 years of cooking for her has made me pretty damn good.
How about a Fisherman's pie made with chicken?
Ones got Shepard in it
I'm literally on my other phone looking how to make Sheppards pie with beef and randomly clicked on this
The only difference is the meat?
Does any person on Earth who does not make their living in high level / fine dining actually care? Did any person who watched this even know themselves prior?
The auld fella reminds me of Mickey D
Been better catching your own sheep from a farmers land, a night run over someone's allotments to get the vegetables and over a camp 🔥 had a few 🍻 🍺 🐝 beer's, great meal .But sh_t camp fire singing.
In America the difference between Shepherd's pie and a cottage pie is really just knit picky. If it was an edible dish maybe the it slide.
i'm in my 20s and every "shepards pie" i've ever eaten was beef so i guess i've never really had a shepards pie lmao
I learned something new today, I had no idea Shepards pie is not supposed to be with beef 🤣🤣
Over 50 years old now and I've always heard of shepherds pie made of different meats. I've seen recipes using different meat. This is first time I've heard that it's only lamb meat and first time I've heard the name cottage pie.
I have yet to see a clip where Gordon approves of the food.
I didn't know it was supposed to be Cottage Pie if made with beef…I'm pretty sure most people in the US call all pies made with mince meat, mashed potatoes, gravy, and some from of vegetable Shepherds Pie
Watching these clips is the cleanest best pleasure
Around a year or so when I was talking to one of my mates from the UK I met on xbox, we were talking about cooking, and I didn't know that properly, cottage pie is what me an my family have alway called Shepard pie. I grew up with a very country family that was never well off with money to purchase lamb/sheep, but had enough common sense to know that Shepard was related to sheep. Honestly I just never connected the two for years and always used beef and called it a Shepards pie. I'm 24, me and my family really struggle, have always lived in very cheap towns; i don't think I'll ever know what lamb tastes like, let alone authentic foreign food; I've always wanted to try curry
Funny bc in Québec, sheppard's pie is called pâté chinois and it's definitely not Chinese!
I don’t know how they can be surprised just look at that food it’s shit a child would see it
I mean he should know we basically just call it Shepard's Pie in the US… and I'm sure he does tbh. Not even just restaurants, buy a frozen one and it's still Shepard's pie. It's just a regional thing. Does he get mad when he buys a bag of chips and they're not French fries too?
Owners and cooks never want to blame to food for a failing business. It’s always an external reason they needed Gordon’s help. But the owner’s act like it’s news that the food sucks. They should be trying every dish weekly. And knowing exactly what’s going out
i always felt bad for annette with that scene. she seems like a great worker
Just replace the peas and carrots with corn and call it Pate Chinois like we do in Quebec
I always wish I could try the dishes too to see if I ever agree with Ramsey or if he just has super high standards given his background and for views.
It's not good when you serve someone a soup, and they say it tastes like someone pissed in it 🤣
So when I buy a Quorn one made with vegetarian mince, should I be calling it not-shepherd's pie or not-cottage pie? 😁
They didn't know the difference between a Shepards Pie and a Cottage Pie? Idiots! -Me someone who didn't know the difference between a Shepards Pie and a Cottage Pie before watching this
Neither does Gordon Ramsay! I watched an episode where he was making shepherds pie and he said he used "beef"
i wonder why the father has so much resentment against the husband of her daugther
The old man seems as his head on his shoulders the other people seem like they got their heads up their asses
its in the name 🤣
To be fair most people don't know the difference between a shepherd's and a cottage pie
Looks like my bum after a wicked bender.
"You know, you've been here for 16 years you'd think your food is decent." Umm, decent isn't the rating you should be going for … LOL!
It would’ve been more funny if they posted this on 3/14
