I'm a carhop for the #1 sonic in Louisiana and the goal is to get the have the order out to you in 4 mins as soon as we're done taking your order. but sonic is very understaffed and your carhop is also taking orders and helping everyone else. sometimes when I'm working drive thru I'll have to carhop too. so just be patient and understand that your carhop is trying.

I've been to Sonic a handful of times, but I don't think I've ever had an experience at one that really inspired me to come back. It's never been BAD, but at bigger chains like McDonalds and Burger King I at least occasionally have those really good experiences that make me want to go back again. I always liked Sonic. The last time I was at one there was quite the bit of a wait despite a couple of people ahead of us, similar to what others have said in the comments. Although I don't get to a Sonic often as the closest one is over a hour away.

PLAINLY IT STINKS, I ASK FOR A HAMBURGER WELL DONE, THEY BROUGHT ME A RARE, THE ORDER TAKER GOT ANGRY AND WANTED ME TO BE PREPARE WITH THE ORDER AND NOT STUTTER, AND IF I DID NOT MOVE FAST ENOUGH THEY WOULD CAL THE PERSON BEHIND ME AND TAKE THEIR, THIS WAS 14 YEARS AGO, NO I HAVE NOT BEEN BACK THERE ARE MANY OTHER PLACE THAT SERVE ME JUST FIND, AS FAR AS SONIC IS CONCERNED, GOOD BYE…… HAHAHA……..

Well, why do they claim to be 100% beef? When I worked at a supplier for Sonic patties. They were not 100% beef. Since a 60lbs bag of soy seasoning was dumped into the mix. Not to say, another 60lb block of meat from Noble made by JBS in New Zealand. Which, was not specified what kind of meat it was.
Sonic actually has decent food. Just gotta know which sonic stores and times to go. The one in my town is the cleanest in my state (Oklahoma). We also won the Dr. Pepper games. If it's right after they open or before they close it has to be made fresh. Or go when it's busy. It's less likely you'll get old food.

As a cook there. This is the only meat I have ever cooked that literally falls apart when you flip it
Pre covid, they opened one here in Vancouver, WA, the most NW state. I have only been there twice, because of a couple things:
1. I do not own a car
2. They are located FAR out in eastern Vancouver, where only one bus goes past.
I think the menu they had (pre acquisition) was really interesting, like the fruity ice drinks with ice cream, and so many options besides French fries for sides with burgers. If they had only made their drive in DOWNTOWN, or worse yet, a bit north of downtown walking distance from me…where we have a ton of fast food places…I would go a lot!
Location, Location, Location…those are the most important things to keep in mind when starting any business. There isn’t much traffic flow except getting off a highway, and it isn’t even an interstate one. Why on earth did they put it there?

The one time I ate at a sonic, their food was dogshit. Never ate there again and the place got replaced with a panda express a few years later.
The simple solution is to use robots to deliver the meal to the car.

Clearly, the big, corporate guys making all the decisions don't care about quality or prestige. They wanted to create another public bathroom that happens to sell drinks and some semblance of food. That's what Sonic "Drive-In" is today.
When I was a kid I viewed Sonic the way people now view Panera or maybe even five-guys. Sonic used to stand-out. But today, It's completely lost its prestige. No class. Sandwiches aren't put in those sleeves anymore, but instead wrapped up like garbage. When it comes to their food and drinks, they're awful because they've tried to mimic other restaurants instead of sticking to their (older) unique style.
The whole look and feel has changed. That '50s/'60s aesthetic is gone and replaced with cliche, laughably bad department store music. These days they look exactly like any other disgusting fastfood dumpster. They're cheap and pathetic. Remove the drive-in aspect; put in a drivethru; and change the name from "Sonic Drive-In" to "Wrapped Ass Burgers".
There's a sonic in Fort Smith on zero street the employees will defame your character for money or to be popular and the managers will steal and hide away your work file. True story.
