Thank you John it was very useful information. You're the best !
Would it be easier to stay in one hotel the entire time if we want to tho to Tokyo Disney? Or is it better to transfer to a hotel on property?
First place we stayed in Japan was Asakusabashi and was excellent for access to Akihabara and major otaku hubs. We will be staying mostly in Ginza (a few nights in Tokyo Bay to access Disneyland easier) and pretty happy with what it offers.
Shimbashi is a cool spot for food and nightlife without being super packed.
This was extremely extremely helpful! I'm headed there in about 4 days and you answered all my questions
It IS all about location nobody wants to be stuck taking trains to get to where all the action is.
On my first trip to Tokyo, I stayed in Shinjuku and Asakusa. While it was convenient to stay in Shinjuku since it connects to anywhere you want to go, it was a nightmare to navigate Shinjuku station.
I loved staying in Asakusa even though Asakusa was further away. It was so peaceful in the early morning hours. Sensoji is so different without the crowds. I loved staying close to the Ginza line. It got everywhere I wanted to go.
I'm going back to Japan next month and I'm debating whether I should stay in Asakusa/Sumida for my first few days in Tokyo or stay closer to the JR line since I'm planning on heading west using the JR pass.
There's so much to see in Tokyo that I don't feel like I'm missing out wherever I choose to stay. Even the train rides are an attraction on their own 😅
Thank you very much, your advice is invaluable.
I likes Kichijoji and Ogikubo area.
Which love hotels do you recommend
Hi we booked our accommodations @ Mitsui Garden hotel in Minato, is it a decent area and convenient to get around?
What train station are you in right now?
anyone who keeps mentioning Capsule hotel better get a grimmy backpack and head to Phuket.
Considering the time spent in and around Tokyo Station, you might have mentioned the incredible hotel right there on the upper floors of the Marunouchi side of the station. Sure, it’s expensive, but someone might be able to splurge for a night, especially if Tokyo is essentially a stopover on their trip 😊
How about The Prince Park Tower in Minato City, Tokyo? Is that at a good location?
Hello, can you recommend hotels with restaurants and shops right outside – like those of dotonbori of Osaka?
Hey Mate which is the train line towards Mt fuji ?
What’s the best hotel in Tokyo with a 13year old boy ?we planning to go to Kyoto too any tip
I just came back from a week in Tokyo and in hindsight this video was very insightful! First half of my stay in stayed in Kuramae (near Asakusa) at Nui Hostel. Kuramae was great for transport links (Oedo and Asakusa line) but also in walking distance of major sights like Asakusa and Oshiage (Skytree), really great neighborhoods that felt like the best of both worlds. I then went on to stay in between Shibuya and Ebisu (Mustard hotel) and found the area to be a tad too noisy and touristy, however good transport links and close to cool neighborhoods like Shimokitazawa, Daikanyama, Nakameguro etc. However staying on the east side of Tokyo was definitely the highlight of my stay! 😁
Thank you for this video! This is exactly what I was looking for as I'm currently looking for lodging. I look up the hotels then consider the transport near by. I'm doing it backwards!
Anyone had experience with the hotel called East21?
Just back from my first trip to Tokyo, and I'll definitely be back! I stayed out at Oshiage (near the Skytree) but next time I think I'll find somewhere in the area of Ueno and Asakusa, I just found myself gravitating back to that part of the city each day
Thanks for the info
I've been watching these vids on capsule hotels in Japan. Most seem perfect except most are only for one day. But they are cheap and have everything you need when you stay. Are there hotels that cheap where you can stay longer?
We stayed at the Prince hotel next to Tokyo tower. It was great location but the hotel was so warm in the middle of winter and there was no central air we had to open a window to let in cool air at night.
What would be the best way to get to ginza from narita?
I am Japanese and I think Shinjuku is the best place to book a hotel in Tokyo. It is convenient to go anywhere by train.
What brand of face mask are you wearing? I’m coming in February!
Thanks for sharing! What area has the most or best " love hotels"? We are anxious to try these out.
Thanks for any answers!
Shimbashi. I love bars.
Looking forward to your ideas of the one area that was old style Japan
what is the point of wearing a mask OUTSIDE????
Update update plsss!! I’m going to Tokyo this spring, my choices to stay is shinjuku .. i wanna be next to shinjuku station coz it’s my first time..
I just got back from Tokyo last weekend I stayed in Hotel Listel Shinjuku (East), It was a 3 star, very basic, basic breakfast, hotel looked a little dated, but the main thing was the room was clean, covers, towels were changed daily. Breakfast was basic but did the job. The hotel was 10-15mins from Shinjuku station, 5 mins from Shinjuku-gyoemmae station which was next to shinjuku-gyoen. I went to some of the popular spots as it was my first time in the city and country, even came back with money, Shinjuku easy access to Shibuya, Harajuku and within 20-25mins Ueno, 12mins from Tokyo station. Im hoping to come back 2023 or 2024, same city , loved every moment, never saw everything , even missed John by minutes on his Ginza video ( spilled green tea one)
Great video. We'll be there for 5 days in April. Our first time , so where would you recommend to stay? Thank you!
Thank you so much. Very helpful information.
I love Asakusa – I found a small, family owned ryokan there in 2019 and I’m returning this coming January. It’s quiet in the evenings, off the main drag, and as John mentions, close to the Ginza line. It’s actually a really sweet neighborhood and it’s lovely to walk down to the Sumidagawa. Plus it’s close to Ueno and Yanaka. But I’m open to trying other neighborhoods- I’m leaving Tokyo to travel in Tohoku then returning to Tokyo so I may stay in Yokohama. Such a great city – hard to go wrong.
Mostly I’m going in winter so I can eat Oden! 🍢
What is the best Sapporo Ski Family Theme park other than sling?
Thanks for the tip. It's helpful for ppl looking for affordable price but not so far away from city attraction
Very good and clear explanation, Thank You
Im planning a trip to japan in early 2023 and booked 9 nights in shinagawa for only 300 USD. Comparing it to a 6 night stay I did in tawaramachi in 2020 i think its pretty cheap. The room in shinagawa is 18m2 with a sea view over odaiba.
Thank you
Why would you go to Disneyland in Japan. Waste of time
What bus is pertaining to green line?? Is it JR line only?
